Corentine Cucumber Seeds (Pickling Type) – 1617

Hybrid | Parthenocarpic | Approx. 20 Seeds per Packet (35 seeds/gram)

Corentine Hybrid Cucumber is an early-yielding, smooth-skinned European Gherkin ideal for pickling or enjoying fresh as mini cucumbers. This parthenocarpic variety does not require pollination, making it especially suited for tunnel and greenhouse production where pollinators may be absent. Producing crisp, seedless cucumbers that stay firm long after harvest, Corentine is favored for its exceptional texture and slow seed development.

Fruits grow 10–15 cm (4–6 inches) long and stay tender even as they mature. The plants are vigorous, strong, and productive, with the ability to set fruit in cooler conditions—perfect for early-season planting.

Key Features

  • Parthenocarpic hybrid – no pollination required
  • Crisp, smooth-skinned gherkin cucumbers, 10–15 cm long
  • Slow seed development for excellent texture and shelf life
  • Performs well in tunnels, greenhouses, or outdoor gardens
  • Sets fruit even in cooler weather
  • Ideal for pickling or fresh mini cucumber use

How to Grow Corentine Cucumbers

Soil Preparation:

  • Choose a rich, sandy loam soil with good drainage
  • Incorporate compost or composted manure to a depth of 30 cm before planting
  • Soil Temperature: Wait until the soil reaches at least 18°C (65°F) for direct sowing

Sowing Instructions:

  • Form hills: 15–20 cm high and 30–60 cm across
  • Spacing: Hills spaced 120 cm apart
  • Sow 2 cm deep, 6–8 seeds per hill
  • Thin to 3–4 healthiest seedlings per hill after germination

Growing Tips:

  • Can be trellised to save space
  • Keep soil consistently moist; avoid letting it dry out to prevent bitterness
  • Protect from late spring frosts
  • Harvest with a sharp knife—never twist cucumbers off the vine
