Penstemon strictus | Perennial | Pollinator-Friendly
Rocky Mountain Penstemon is a hardy, drought-tolerant perennial native to the western United States, known for its brilliant purple-blue, trumpet-shaped flowers that bloom on stalks up to 60 cm (24") tall. This plant forms a low rosette of deep green foliage, producing a stunning floral display in early summer that attracts butterflies, hummingbirds, and beneficial pollinators.
Ideal for dry, well-drained soils, especially in open woodlands or xeriscapes, this Zone 4-hardy perennial is excellent for naturalizing and is often used in cut flower gardens for its bold color and vertical form. Rocky Mountain Penstemon self-sows easily, making it a reliable addition to native plantings and low-maintenance landscapes.
