Shasta Daisy Seeds 6625. Free flowering plants with large snow white, single flowers with yellow centres. Well drained soil is best. No perennial garden should be without this outstanding plant. Older references have Shasta Daisy listed as Chrysanthemum X superbum and C. maxima. Recent changes to the nomenclature placed Shasta Daisy into the genus Leucanthemum. Hardy to Zone 3.
Favourite summer perennials blooming June through August. Easy to grow, adaptable to most soils, trouble free and tolerant of heat and drought. Blooms well in full sun or light shade. Start seed 8 to 10 weeks early indoors. Germination requires 14 to 21 days at 20 C (70 F). Grow on under lights at a cooler temperature of 15 C (60 F) before hardening off and transplanting outside to a sunny spot. Seed can also be directly sown in the garden in May and again in mid-August to early September for flowering in the following year.
