How to Grow
12 seed/gram. Plants bloom late spring to late fall! Select a site with deep, well-drained soil in full sun Sow April and early May when the soil becomes workable but is still quite cool. Soak seeds overnight in water then sow seed 12 mm (1/2"") deep about 5 cm (2"") apart - germination can take up to 20 days. Thin to 10 cm (4"") apart when they are 7.5 cm (3"") tall. Keep well watered and fed through the year with a 20-20-20 or 15-30-15 water soluble fertilizer. Plants will often have reduced flowering during the heat of summer but will once again flower prolifically with the return of moderate temperatures in late summer. A couple of hours of mid-afternoon shade can be beneficial in hot summer areas.
