Cotyledon Bear Paw – 4"

A playful and distinctive succulent prized for its thick, fuzzy leaves shaped like miniature bear paws. Cotyledon Bear Paw (Cotyledon tomentosa) features soft, velvety green foliage with charming toothed tips that can develop reddish to burgundy edges when grown in bright light. Its compact, branching form and unusual texture make it a standout addition to sunny windowsills, desks, succulent collections, and decorative plant displays.

Key Features

  • Thick, fuzzy leaves resemble tiny bear paws for a unique and playful appearance
  • Distinctive toothed leaf tips may develop attractive red or burgundy coloration in bright light
  • Soft, velvety foliage adds unusual texture to succulent collections
  • Compact, branching growth habit ideal for windowsills, desks, shelves, and small spaces
  • Drought-tolerant succulent with relatively low maintenance requirements

Plant Care Instructions

  • Light: Prefers very bright light with several hours of gentle direct sunlight. Bright conditions help maintain compact growth and encourage colorful leaf tips; acclimate gradually to intense sun.
  • Water: Allow the soil to dry thoroughly between waterings, then water deeply and let excess moisture drain completely. Water less frequently during winter and avoid letting water sit on the fuzzy foliage.
  • Soil: Use a fast-draining cactus or succulent potting mix. A container with drainage holes is essential for reducing the risk of root rot.
  • Humidity: Prefers average to low household humidity with good air circulation. Avoid misting, as moisture can become trapped on the fuzzy leaves.
  • Temperature: Grows well between approximately 18–27°C. Protect from frost, cold drafts, and prolonged temperatures below approximately 10°C.
  • Fertilizer: Feed lightly every 4–6 weeks during spring and summer with a diluted cactus or succulent fertilizer. Little to no fertilizer is required during winter.
  • Maintenance: Keep the foliage dry and handle gently to preserve its delicate fuzzy coating. Remove dead or damaged leaves and ensure the plant receives adequate airflow.
  • Pruning: Trim overly long or leggy stems as needed to maintain a compact, branching shape. Use clean, sharp pruning tools.
  • Repotting: Repot every 2–3 years or when the plant becomes root-bound. Choose a container only slightly larger than the current pot and refresh with well-draining succulent soil.

Note: Plant size, fullness, branching, foliage shape, and coloration may vary naturally from the product image. Decorative pot design may also vary. Most plants are supplied in a one-time-use plastic grower pot.
