This mix typically includes several fingerling varieties with different skin and flesh colors such as red, yellow, and purple, offering a beautiful and flavorful harvest.

Fingerling potatoes are prized for their long, slender shape, creamy texture, and rich, buttery flavor. They hold their shape well when cooked and are ideal for roasting, grilling, steaming, and potato salads. Growing a mix of varieties provides a diverse harvest with unique flavors and vibrant colors that make meals more exciting.

These organically grown seed potatoes are ideal for home gardens, raised beds, and larger plots. The combination sack allows gardeners to experience multiple specialty potato varieties while enjoying reliable yields and excellent culinary quality.

Growing Instructions (Zone 3b)

Potatoes grow very well in cooler northern climates and are well suited to Zone 3b gardens.

  • Planting Time: Plant seed potatoes in late spring once the soil warms to about 7–10°C (45–50°F). In Zone 3b this is typically mid-May to early June.
  • Sun: Full sun is required for strong plant growth and good tuber development.
  • Soil: Loose, fertile, well-drained soil rich in organic matter with a pH of 5.0–6.5.
  • Preparation: If larger seed potatoes are present, cut them into pieces ensuring each piece has at least 1–2 eyes. Allow cut pieces to dry for 1–2 days before planting to prevent rot.
  • Planting Depth: Plant pieces about 3–4 inches deep.
  • Spacing: Space plants 12 inches apart in rows 24–30 inches apart.
  • Hilling: When plants reach 6–8 inches tall, mound soil around the base of the plants. Repeat as plants grow to encourage more tuber formation and protect developing potatoes from sunlight.
  • Watering: Keep soil evenly moist, especially during flowering when tubers begin forming.
  • Harvest: Harvest small new potatoes in about 70–80 days, or allow 90–110 days for full maturity depending on the varieties in the mix.
  • Storage: Cure harvested potatoes in a dark, well-ventilated space for 1–2 weeks before storing in a cool, dark place.

The C6 Organic Fingerling Combo Sack is a great way to grow a colorful, flavorful assortment of gourmet potatoes in your garden.
