Seed Potato – Bellanita Fingerling (500g)

Bellanita Fingerling is a premium fingerling potato variety known for its smooth golden skin, creamy yellow flesh, and exceptional flavor. These slender, elongated potatoes are highly prized for their firm texture and rich, buttery taste that holds up beautifully in cooking. Bellanita potatoes are perfect for roasting, grilling, steaming, and potato salads, where their shape and texture really shine.

This variety produces attractive clusters of small fingerling potatoes with consistent size and excellent culinary quality. Bellanita is a reliable garden performer that offers good yields and uniform tubers. Their gourmet quality makes them a favorite among home gardeners and chefs who want restaurant-quality potatoes straight from the garden.

Fingerling potatoes are especially valued for their ability to maintain their shape when cooked, making them ideal for dishes where presentation and texture matter.

Growing Instructions (Zone 3b)

Potatoes grow very well in cooler northern climates and are an excellent crop for Zone 3b gardens.

  • Planting Time: Plant seed potatoes in late spring once the soil has warmed to about 7–10°C (45–50°F). In Zone 3b this is typically mid-May to early June.
  • Sun: Full sun is required for healthy plant growth and good tuber development.
  • Soil: Loose, fertile, well-drained soil rich in organic matter with a pH of 5.0–6.5.
  • Preparation: If seed potatoes are large, cut them into pieces with at least 1–2 eyes per piece. Allow cut pieces to dry for 1–2 days before planting to prevent rot.
  • Planting Depth: Plant pieces about 3–4 inches deep.
  • Spacing: Space plants 12 inches apart in rows 24–30 inches apart.
  • Hilling: When plants reach 6–8 inches tall, mound soil around the stems to encourage additional tuber growth and prevent sunlight from reaching developing potatoes. Repeat as plants grow.
  • Watering: Keep soil evenly moist, especially during flowering when tubers are forming.
  • Harvest: Harvest small “new potatoes” around 70–80 days, or allow 90–110 days for full maturity.
  • Storage: Cure harvested potatoes in a dark, well-ventilated area for 1–2 weeks before storing in a cool, dark place.

Bellanita Fingerling potatoes are an excellent choice for gardeners looking to grow flavorful, gourmet-quality potatoes with reliable yields.
